Solving word problems in maths as a team

This half term we are focusing on interdependence- thinking about our role within a team. We have been learning to listen, include and respond to each other’s ideas. Once the children have solved the problem, they then present how they have solved the word problem to the class. This gives them a chance to develop their reasoning skills and to be able to explain the steps needed to solve a problem.

Mosaic printing in action

The children have been researching about the art work that was left behind by the Romans. They have found out that archaeologists have discovered mosaics during archaeological digs. They have designed their own mosaic, inspired by the Roman mosaics they have looked at, then used wooden square dowels to ‘print’ their mosaics. This process required a lot of concentration!
