Hi Year 4
We said ‘hello’ to a new member of the class this week – Jack M. I’m sure that I should be able to claim a prize now that I have three Jacks in my class! Bournemouth is a long way from Leeds so I am really pleased with how much Cian, Toby, Jak and Jack H have done to make him feel at home.
On Tuesday some of the class went to Leeds Beckett University Arts Department where they decorated their clay plaques and painted a ‘Dazzleship’.
Ruth from the Blah, Blah, Blah Theatre company worked with us on Thursday. We used drama and soundscapes to build on what we had read about in our class novel ‘There’s a Viking In My Bed’.
I didn’t arrange it but I’m glad it snowed today as it provided extra inspiration for us to write about a journey through the land of the Viking frost giants. Subhaan was bursting with superb vocabulary and ideas, Toby and Jak made a massive effort to prove that they skilled writers and Rayah may have earned her Pen Pass. She’ll have to wait until Monday to find out.
Please work on time telling skills this weekend, not just reading clocks but also understanding timetables. Pages 74 and 75 should be completed in the English Homework books before Thursday.
Make sure that you return your Parents Evening reply form to school as soon as possible so you can receive your preferred appointment time.
Star of the Week has to be Subhaan. Our conversations always amaze me. I am continually amazed by the breadth of his vocabulary and the depth of his thinking. We should all try and be a bit more like Subhaan – be hungry for knowledge, be full of wonder and imagine how things could be better.
Have a good weekend
